How can we help?
ulanguage.net is an online platform that connects learners with independent language teachers from around the world. You can take personalized 1-on-1 or small group lessons via video call, tailored to your goals (conversation, exam preparation, business language, travel, etc.) cross all subjects. We’re not a traditional school — we’re a marketplace that makes it easy to find and learn from high-quality teachers.
It’s simple:
- - Sign up for a free account.
- - Browse and find a teacher that matches your needs (language, price, reviews, availability).
- - Book a trial lesson or regular class.
- - Pay securely through the platform. You can start learning.
Each teacher sets prices and they usually range from $3–$30 per hour, depending on their experience, the subject, and lesson type. Trial lessons are often cheaper or even free. The price is clearly shown before you book — no hidden fees or mandatory subscriptions.
Yes! Most teachers offer a trial lesson (typically 30 minutes or 60 minutes at a discounted rate or free). It’s the perfect way to experience their teaching style and decide if they’re the right fit. If it’s not a match, you can easily switch teachers.
Lessons are private 1-on-1 or small group video calls (using our platform tools). Teachers can share screens, materials, and exercises. You just need a computer or phone with a webcam, microphone, and stable internet. Lesson length is flexible — usually 30 to 60 minutes.
Very little:
- - A device with camera and microphone.
- - Stable internet connection.
- - Any materials the teacher may send in advance. No complicated software is required — everything happens right on ulanguage.net.
Use our filters: subject, price, ratings, specialties (conversation, grammar, IELTS, business English, etc.), native/non-native speaker. Watch their introduction video, read their profile, and check reviews from other students to make the best choice.
No problem — you can change teachers anytime. If the trial lesson isn’t a good fit, contact support and we’ll help with a refund or credit toward another class.
On uLanguage, cancellation or reschedule within 24h is not allowed. Each time slot of a teacher needs to be booked in advance and can only be booked once.
If you can't take a lesson, make sure you're notifying your teacher at your earliest convenience. Talk with your teacher and see if a refund or rescheduling can be arranged.
- Lessons that will happen within 24 hours can only be canceled or rescheduled by “report a problem” after lesson time, (How to report a lesson problem?)
- If your refund request is not agreed upon, your teacher is entitled to receive full payment.
Note that if both have agreed to "reschedule a lesson", the lesson can no longer be canceled but should proceed with a new date and time. Should there be further issues, you can report a problem again after the new lesson date and time.
The student and the teacher have 72 hours to report a lesson problem since a lesson will be automatically confirmed as completed after 72 hours of the lesson time and lesson credits will be transferred to the teacher.
If there is an issue with your lesson, make sure your stay in touch with your teacher, or turn to uLanguage in time to solve the problem.
- Click "My Lessons" and find the problematic lesson under the "Waiting" category.
- Click “there was a problem” on the right side of the lesson page
- Select the lesson problem and a solution
- Click "Confirm" and wait for the reply.
We support many popular languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and more. The list will keep growing as we add new teachers.
If in rare cases - teachers didn't attend a lesson without giving prior notice due to technical issues or personal emergencies - or there are other problems with your lesson, after the lesson, you can report a problem and let us know what happened.
In this situation, please make sure:
- Contact your teacher during and after the lesson time to check if the teacher is available
- If there is no response from the teacher, report a problem
- Select lesson problem “teacher did not attend and did not give prior notice” and the solution
The teacher will have 7 days to respond to the request. If the lesson problem and solution are accepted, the lesson problem will be resolved in accordance with the solution proposed when the problem was reported. If the lesson problem and solution are declined, italki will settle the Lesson Dispute. A final decision will be made based on the information and details provided by both parties.
Currently, most lessons are 1-on-1 or small group with 2-4 students for maximum personalization and high quality.

Currently, ulanguage.net does not issue official certificates (since teachers are independent). However, many teachers provide progress reports, feedback summaries, or preparation for official exams (TOEIC, IELTS, HSK, etc.). You can ask your teacher for a confirmation letter if needed.
Contact ulanguage2020@gmail.com. We offer 24/7 email/ticket support (response within 24 hours).
We focus on high-quality independent teachers, competitive pricing, a clean and easy-to-use interface, and excellent support — especially for beginners. No forced subscriptions, fully flexible scheduling, and exciting AI-powered features coming soon (planned after 2026).
Trial lessons are a way to learn how to use the uLanguage system. They give you a chance to see the whole picture of what the uLanguage experience is like at a discounted price. Trial lessons will help you get used to the payment process, the scheduling system, and how to confirm a completed lesson.
Each user has three trial lessons that they can use to try out uLanguage. You can use 1 trial lesson per teacher, and you can use them whenever you’d like. You do not need to use them all at once, trial lessons do not expire.
The purpose of offering trial lessons is to give a way for students to get to know the system, not a way to get to know the teachers. If you are on the fence about a teacher, we would recommend researching feedback about the teacher from previous students, and watching their introduction video.
However, if something happens and your trial lesson gets cancelled, you can contact uLanguage support with the lesson ID # of the canceled lesson, and we'll reactivate it for you.
To help our students quickly understand how uLanguage and lessons work, we have designed trial lesson to get you on board.
- Trial lessons are offered by teachers at a discounted price
- Each new user has 3 Trial lessons that need to be taken with three different teachers.
- Not all teachers provide trial lessons.
You can find your remaining trial lessons on your Student Dashboard. Trial Lessons do not expire until you complete all of them.
- - Cancel 24+ hours in advance: No fee / full refund.
- - Cancel less than 24 hours: May incur a partial fee (depends on the teacher).
- - If the teacher cancels: 100% refund or credit.
Nowadays, learning English online has become very popular as it allows you to study in the comfort of your home and save you time, energy, and money. But it may be challenging to learn English on your own or by relying only on traditional online courses. The best-proven way to learn English online is by hiring a private English teacher. And one of the best places to find an experienced English teacher is uLanguage.
Learning English with a private teacher on uLanguage has many advantages compared to traditional online courses:
- Your private English teacher will assess your level and develop a personalized study plan according to your level and learning objectives.
- They will confront you in real-life situations and provide more practical knowledge of the English language. You will gain practical knowledge that a standardized online course can not offer.
- Your online English teacher will help you work on the problematic aspects of the language and encourage you during the learning process.
- Your teacher is always aware of your language level and will teach accordingly. They will alter their teaching style at your pace and comfort.
- You will always have their full attention, and your teacher will answer any questions you may have about the language.
A confirmed Lesson is a commitment you make with a student. Reschedule or cancel only as a last resort, and only after you have communicated this to your student.
We have a standardized lesson cancellation and rescheduling policy that applies to all teachers and students. Teachers cannot create their own policy.
- - More than 24 hours before the lesson start time: It's possible to reschedule or cancel when the student and the teacher agree (this must be done via the uLanguge platform).
- - Within 24 hours of the lesson start time: It's not possible to reschedule or cancel before the lesson start time.
In emergencies where a large number of lessons need to be cancelled, please contact ulanguage2020@gmail.com for further help.
